India is in a COVID-19 crisis. More than 350,000 new cases and thousands of deaths are being reported every day. Hospitals are overwhelmed. Families are treating sick loved ones in the street as they await medical help. And life-saving supplies like oxygen and personal protective equipment are in short supply.
Raytheon Technologies, which employs about 5,000 people in India, is acting quickly to protect the health of our colleagues, their families and their communities. The company is donating 1,000 oxygen concentrators that will be provided through the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum to the Red Cross. These life-saving devices will be distributed where the need is the greatest, including those communities where our employees work and live. Meanwhile, our teams are actively working on securing resources to provide PPE, vaccines and other needed supplies.
“Although there are signs of recovery in many parts of the world, our teammates in India continue to confront the enormous challenges of the pandemic,” said Pam Erickson, chief communications officer for Raytheon Technologies. “The time for us to act is now.”
The company is also matching employee donations through May 22 to several nonprofits supporting COVID-19 relief efforts in India.
